January Reading Wrap Up

January was a truly excellent month for reading. I devoured more books than I have in ages, opting to focus on thrilling reads while also allowing myself the freedom to DNF books that didn’t capture my interest. I even started and finished a series within the same month, which naturally left me feeling quite satisfied. Now, let me share my stats and what I’ve been reading with you all.

The first book in this series was already a highlight and a fantastic introduction to this epic world, but the second installment managed to iron out the minor discrepancies, allowing me to connect even more deeply with the fantastic characters. Read my Review here.

This book was everywhere last year, and after reading three rather dark books, I was eager for something to give me a warm and cozy feeling. Unfortunately, the book ended up making me rather angry as it didn’t resonate with me. Read my Review here.

Honestly, I was expecting a bit more from this book. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad, and it did manage to grip me on some pages, especially in the beginning. However, the initial excitement dwindled as I progressed. Still, I would recommend the book for a rainy evening read.

This book was an absolute blast! A little adventure tale filled with delightful characters! It’s impossible not to love it! I think I’ll have to give this book another read, as a few days later, I find myself remembering it even more fondly and wanting to enjoy it all over again. Read my Review here.

I’m rarely satisfied with the ending of a series, but David Dalglish nailed it perfectly! It strikes the perfect balance between a sad yet ultimately happy ending, making it incredibly bittersweet. There’s nothing quite like finishing a book with that kind of emotional resonance. It felt very realistic and was exactly what I had hoped for. This series has definitely earned a spot among my favorites.

I’ve never read a book as uniquely captivating as this one, and it’s simply marvelous! This book takes you on a journey you won’t soon forget, and I’m eagerly anticipating the arrival of the next installments. (I’m currently anxiously awaiting the mailman…) If you enjoyed the show Arcane, I wonder why you haven’t picked up this book yet. Please also check out my review, as it will surely convince you.

I’m not a fan of romance books! I enjoy romance as a subplot, but a book solely focused on romance isn’t usually my cup of tea… Or so I thought… Until I read this book. Please don’t let the cover or the fact that it’s listed under fantasy distract you; this book has little to do with fantasy, but the love story within is simply enchanting! Especially the first half of the book, with its back-and-forth of letters, is beautifully crafted.

My January DNFs

It’s a pity I didn’t enjoy this book, especially since it was one of the series I was most looking forward to this year. I believe many will enjoy this book, and everyone should give it a try, even though I ended up DNFing it. It’s just too fast-paced for me, and I’ve realized that I don’t enjoy fast-paced books.

I don’t understand why I couldn’t continue reading this book because I genuinely liked everything about it. The writing style is excellent, the world and magic system seem very interesting, and the characters were also compelling to read about, except for the main character, who felt a bit hollow to me. That’s why I might give this book another try someday… or maybe not.
